Connecting Proper Wiring To Battery

Wiring of control panel switch leads to battery has never been right - new battery drains too fast. What is a simple way of testing which wires should go to which pole of the battery? Most of the leads are bundled together. If not, I thought I could make sure all of the wires coming from the "top" of the switch went to positive or negative and all of the "bottom" wires coming from the switches went to the other pole. Basic electrical assistance needed!

Wiring

There only two wires that power up the dc panel.......these attach on the end on the buss. One buss is positive and one buss is the ground. On my Mac before I replaced the panel.....the jumble of white wire was a mess but it can be identified.......one side of the two wires will be smooth and the other side will have small ridges on it. I wouyd replace the wires feeding the dc panel coming from the battery with about 8-10 gauge marine wire........yes there is a difference.

Might want to read a book...

Jay, Attempting to learn basic electronics this way would be like trying to learn to drive over the internet. It just is not going to work. I would suggest get some good books on boat wiring. Hit the link for the highly recommended "Sailboat Electrical Systems". There are my others. Until you get some basic knowledge under your belt, I would suggest you not play around with the wiring. Good luck, Ron
