Connectin Raymarine A70

Anyone know the proper power connection for a Raymarine A70 display? I'd like to hook it up at home to learn how to use it before spring launch. There are 2 posts that appear to be power connections in the per/nmea connection jack. pos/neg is not identified. Will harm be done if connected backwards?

Are you asking how to hook it up without the power/data wire? I think I'd use that unless you have it installed on the boat already. Then you can just use the installation manual diagrams to get it running.

Otherwise, you'd need a wiring schematic of the unit itself, I couldn't find one... perhaps a call to Raymarine customer service could help.

Yup. That's what I'm asking. The units at home and the Raymarine provided cable is on the boat 4 hours away. The only concern is whether there is harm if I connect pos to neg and neg to pos. If there's diodes in the circuits that could fry things. I think. Not an electronics expert.

Yeah, I see......... why don't you give the Raymarine folks a call tomorrow and see if they have a simple solution....otherwise you'd have to figure out the pin assignment by looking at a schematic, which they might have also. I wouldn't crack the case.. it might affect warranty. I wonder if you could acquire another power/data cable...... anyway, I understand your desire to practice with it before taking the boat out.
