Conflicting info re: anode material

This will be my second season on Lake Champlain . Can anyone tell me what material they use for the prop shaft anodes? I read online that zinc is not for freshwater,to use magnesium,yet my boatyard says they use only zinc. I would appreciate some feedback based on local knowlwdgw and experience.
I feel that chemistry is chemistry and not up to debate,yet I still get conflicting info.

If you use zinc anodes, the anodes will last forever but won't protect your boat. You need to use MAGNESIUM anodes on freshwater like Lake Champlain. On brackish water, the anodes are usually ALUMINUM...and only on salt water are ZINC anodes normally recommended.

Glad to help Roy... I'd be questioning how competent the boatyard is, given that they're giving out bad information about anodes. This image is from z-guard.co.uk's website.
