Bought a used 260 last year and after some great help from a fellow 260 owner, we finally got her in the water - then came engine problems et all, followed by hurricane Ivan, other stuff. Long story short, I've finally got around to getting her sailing ready (she stays in the water - I didn't have a vehicle that could tow it. At any rate, beyond cleaning around the water line, I had not cleaned the bottow - today I dove down to clean her up more to puller her out only to find a LOT of sizeable barnacles/other shells on the bottom - especially around the centerboard. Frankly, I'm not sure the board would now come down, and if so, not sure if it would go back up. How much damage/potential damage do you think has been done? I plan to put her on the trailer next week and take her somewhere for repairs/new bottom paint. Given the centerboard situation, what else should I ask them to do?? Finally, anyone from the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area, any recommendations for a boat yard for this type of work? Thanks all - I feel like a jerk for letting this go so long. Fair winds.
