Just heard from my Dad they closed Hopkins Boarding House. I will cry in my beer tonight. My Dad ate there 2-3 times a week for the last 40 years. My mother is madder than hell that she has to cook every day now. Bummer I loved that place. Jim S/V Java

I understand it will re-open with a new owner. I hope it will be as good.

Sorry to hear that

Hopkins Boarding House,Trader Jon's and the Pensacola women helped me get through flight school in 1970. I had alot of fine meals at Hopkins Boarding house and alot of good times with Trader and the girls.

Remeber the entrance....

The door from the lobby to the restaurant was such that you had to "crab walk" sideways thru. I always found this funny, as it seemed to be used as a "sieve" to keep the large customers out (all you can eat). I can't hardly believe the cook's claim (see article) that their fried chicken was just salted, peppered, and floured. It was knock down delicious.....and the sweet potato casserole.....oh my. The new owners have bid shoes to fill......Gary

I knew Trader Jon's was under new management, but I did not know it closed. We went to visit Trader and Jackie after his stroke, and it was sad to learn of his passing. I am sure he is in heaven, serving drinks and still wearing two different colored socks. He always liked customers with wings. Hopkins Boarding House and Trader Jon's closed but still the best beaches and sailing area in the world.
