Condensation inside cabin...

I went out to the boat yesterday and noticed there was condensation on the roof of the bow. The rest of the ceiling it was completely dry and I'm wondering if the lack of ventilation is causing the problem. I am down in lower Alabama and it gets awful hot inside there and then cools down at night. Other than leaving the hatch is open how can I get air flow into the boat.

Most likely, that's correct.

A fan or two. And not necessarily "into" the boat, but moving air around the cabin should help, also.

I have a solar vent on my new-2-me hunter 26. It seems to really help a lot. Recently I covered the cabin top with a tarp over the mast (the mast is currently down) and shaded the solar vent. Next time I was in the boat, I definitely notice the start of "boat funk"... un-shaded the vent and next time the boat was fresh. ... I believe a solar vent will become necessary gear on all of my boats from now on.

Is the part of the ceiling for lack of terms straight smooth ceiling? That would be another reason but air flow is important. They use to make containers that collected moisture inside the boat but not sure if they worked well or if they even still make them.

If you have 110 power I use a small dehumidifier and a few fans moving air around
and here in Florida very hot and wet summer and my inside is great.

Our Catalina 22 came with an exhaust fan called "Vent-O-Mate"...sold by many marine dealers....rather than solar, the
vent O Mate exhausts air by wind blowing across the top, both day and night and they don't cause any water leaks, etc. This vent is very effective at eliminating warm, moist stagnate air inside a boat....the come both in a plastic model and a stainless
model....they are effective year round...and are a very good buy...their effectiveness could very well outlast the lifetime of the
boat you are sailing....esp. good for boats that are shut up much of the time... better yet install an supply (in-take) near the galley and the vent-o-mate exhaust in the v-berth.....Patrick
