Make sure participation doesn't get you placed on the No Fly list. A cuban passport stamp is a red flag.

Even though relations are improving, the US Congress does not contemplate lifting the embargo. Find out from the organizers if proper license for the event has been secured from the US Treasury Dept. and find out if you personally qualify to make a trip to Cuba. Either that or a current passport from the Conk Republic. Good to see these events taking place in order to promote that free travel can be re-established.

I think it sounds like fun and would like to make that trip at some point.

Mr Bill,

I used to be a GSC member years ago, but since I bought my boat, I am closer to HISC docked in Pompano. I have not stopped by any of their meetings. Are you a member of either of them?

yep, both.

Sent you a pm on sunfish racing at the lake. (cheap).
Some world class sailors race there. -I'm not one of them...

a great place for sailing and bbq's


-fwiw, I know a few club boats that do the FLL - KW race, but skip race week...
maybe some will leave the boat down there, and do the cuba race.. :D

Weather or not the embargo is lifted is not related to this issue. Anyone who actually looks at the website can see that all the processes are outlined for applying for the proper government permits. The people who helped the government streamline this permitting process are the same people handling the permitting for the Conch Republic Cup. These are the same people who ran the Havana Challenge Hobie 16 race to Havana in May. This event was internationally publicized for is progress in these international relations as well as the US right to travel.
