Has anyone tried the computer racing CD's? What is your opinion of these? Also where do you buy them?

PC Racing

I bought Sail 2000 to help me through last winter... not bad at all. Nice graphics, match racing, assortment of courses, pretty elaborate instrumentation, options for wind speed, opponent strength, etc., and you can play on line against others. Definitely helping me with tactics, and there's a constant readout as to who's got the right of way, with ISAF rule cited, and anything that helps me with those rules is worth it.(www.vividsimulations.com) Their major competition is an outfit called Posey Yacht Design. You can download a free demo at www.poseysail.com. Pretty cool... Did that too last year. Four different simulators. The graphics were not quite as good, but it's fleet racing, and much more control of sail trim, rules, coaches barking at you. Liked those features a lot. I might buy this one this winter! You can find ads for both in the ad sections(back of the mags) of Sail and Sailing World. Check out both sites, do the demo, and see what you like. Better than dreaming for the next four months. See you on the water, er, web!
