Compression Test

In an attempt to track down the cause of the white smoke coming from our 3HM35F, we were asked to test the compression on the motor while it was running at 2200 rpm by pushing the de-compression lever on each cylinder and noting the drop in rpm on the tacho. Starting from the cylinder closest to the exhaust, we got 100rpm drop on the first two and 400rpm drop on the third. When I pressed the de-compression lever for the first cylinder I got white smoke coming from the block somewhere (couldn't make out where). Has anyone ever done a similar test and if so, what were the results.

White Smoke

White smoke is unburned fuel. I would think it's either compression , timing at the pump to one of the cylinders or more likley air in the injector line. Crack (don't remove) the injectors one at a time. The engine will run on 2. If there is no noticable change that's the bad one.
