compression test on sb8 yanmar

I would like to perform a compression test on my little sb8 yanmar. I know that I have to remove the fuel injector (which I plan to send to Mack Boring for a routine clean and adjust). Will a regular auto type compression tester work with a rubber insert for testing the compression in this engine

Diesels require a special compression tester. A regular guage for a gas motor will not work. I don't normaly do compression testing on a diesel, because if it runs the compression is adequate. What is causing your intrest in testing? If you are going to send in the injector, also send in the injection pump. Remember the injector is dumb, it just opens and closes.
