Irwin 37:is the compression post removeable without removing the coachroof? after loosening the stays & shrouds, can I push the underside of the roof up, or must I step the mast to pull the old post<?>

There isn't much give in the upwards direction because the deck is already domed in that direction, but you could try it very carefully. As you load the underside of the deck the upper part of the cabin sides will want to pull in, so you would have to be careful not to crack the deck/cabin side corner.

You shouldn't have to move it much so it just might work. Just be very careful and go slow.

Good luck

I jacked up the step on mine with a two ton floor jack. It only lifted about 1/8 inch and revealed there are 2 bolts coming down into the wood post from the top. After I removed all the caked on sealer at the bottom of the mast it looks like it has only settled that much. I installed a 1/8 inch aluminum spacer between the post and the ceiling and let it go at that since I can find no major rot in the step, post or the box under the floor. Very lucky, I guess. I am replacing the bulkhead there since it rotted from water leaking thru the diaphragm on the fresh water pump which was spraying thru a 2 inch hole in the glas under the front bench in the galley. Is almost done just need to finish the new wood and replace the bolts that hold it to the glas. Was a fight to get it in but only had to take about a half inch off the finished height to get it in.
