Compression post leaking

During a couple of heavy rains this last summer I noticed water overflowing the cabin sole plate where the compression post is anchored at the floor. Do I have to provide a seal where the mast sits on the deck pad? I did not do that this last summer because I did not think water could get inside and up and over the raised hole where the mast wires runback down into the cabin.

A wealth of information about this in archives, one very good photo spread under Hunter 31 model. Problem occurs when "raised hole" cracks or breaks at base near the cabin deck top.

in case you need mast step surgery...

This is what I had to do after what I imagine was years of SLIGHT leakage. This isn't about stopping the leaks, it's about the case of repairing core damage! The web page is not finished yet, but here is a good start... I can probably help if you have to get into it.
