So my compression post of my Catalina 28 is leaking a very little bit around one of the screws that holds the compression post to the top of the cabin. In a very heavy rain I might get 1 drip a minute on the table. This doesn't appear to be a huge issue but something I want to address. One of the guys at our marina that also owns a catalina 28 said he had the same problem a couple years ago and used some "Capt. Tolley's Creeping Crack Cure" around the base of the mast to fix the problem. Anyone want to weigh in on if this is a good idea or not. Or anyone have a better suggestion. IT looks like I'm going to have to take my mast down to do much more then that. Thanks Jason

I would wonder

where the water is coming from? Water can't get into the core, can it? I had the same problem in my Hunter 28. I caulked the mast cable penetrations and it stopped leaking.

Not Sure

I'm not sure where it's coming in. Everything around the mast shoe looks very good. I bought the boat in the spring so I'm not sure what anything under the mast looks like yet. I'm pulling out of the water in october so I won't know until then. I don't think the leak is very bad. In a ligth rain nothing comes in. It's only in a very heavy rain or if I pour a 5 gallon bucket of water do I get anything in the boat. Jason

My Mast is keel steped, But it dose have a flang on it. They used wood screws in it. I drilled the holes through 3/4 in. epoxed holes. Then redrilled holes to 1/4 in. Used beutel rubber as bedding. Get at NAPA. (windsheld Bedding).
