Last year I restored my topsides to a shiny, reflective finish using the process outlined in detail by Maine Sail. The work was not easy but the result was very gratifying. I sail on Lake Erie and store the boat outside. The boat still looks still looks great one year later. Before launching this year, I have a simple question - what is the proper annual maintenance for this type of finish? An archive search didn't give me a clear answer, but I'll admit to not being a search expert. Maine, if you are around, please chime in.

wash and wax the boat as needed... If the water ain't beading up...the boat needs more wax.

I will usually polish or glaze it then wax. Just a two step that keeps ahead of it. If it is already fairly shiny then it takes little effort to bring the shine up just a tad more. Finesse It II and a yellow wool pad (3M 05713) will be just the ticket..

Mike, just did mine this past weekend. First season, using Main Sails directions, I used a similar product to 3m Finesse II, then polished, then waxed. Past couple of seasons I used polish and then waxed and looks great.

Thanks Guys, wash, polish with Finesse It II then wax with Fleet Wax is what I will do.
