Best to check and see if this is really required.. In the US such a plate is required only of boats less than 20 feet long.. and sailboats are exempt.. Your regulations may be different, but dig in to the laws/rules to see ..

Just a thought but have you tried the NMMA or it's Canadian equivalent? Perhaps they might be able to help?

There was nothing like that in the paperwork I received when I bought my 1986 H23 as a new boat.

Utila:

I went through this when we purchased our new hunter 260. The importing dealer is the "person" responsible for obtaining the compliance plate for vessels that they bring into Canada. Even now it looks as if most dealers have no desire/knowledge about the compliance program. I ended up, with assistance from someone who sat on the committee dealing with the compliance program, obtaining a single vessel plate.

From the current web information I would not bother going through the effort as there is no fine for not having one - only for removing it.

Taken from this link (last few paragraphs.)

http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/debs-obs-paperwork-paperwork_noticesfaq-307.htm

Can I be fined for not having a Compliance Notice on my vessel?
Attaching a Compliance Notice is the responsibility of the manufacturer or importer. An owner cannot be fined if there was no Compliance Notice attached to the vessel by the manufacturer or importer.

"There are fines, however, if anyone removes or alters a Compliance Notice or attaches to a vessel a compliance notice that contains untrue information."

If you Still want to go ahead with acquiring a plate PM me and I can give you details and the contacts that I used a few years ago.
