Just purchased a 222 O'day needing the complete rub-rail system replaced. Materials purchased from DR Marine came with the boat but never installed. I sent an e-mail to Rudy last week but must take a while to get a reply. Anyone have any tips? Every other bolt along the sides are SS bolts and washers and nuts. The new backing does not have holes pre-drilled so it looks like I have two choices. One fill in old holes with epoxy but mark on the out side location. ( Slight compromise to the hull / deck seal ) Or Second have the second person hold the new backing in position and drill back through hole from the inside of the boat. ( seems a better way but may not be able to hold a drill and bit in all the inside places. Hummm ??? Also would a common heat gun be enough to heat DR Marines backing (plastic) to bend around the bow and starboard and port transom corners like the original. Any and all responses and appreciated. My e-mail may have gone to Cyber Space however I'm looking for maybe more than just one opinion. Thanks in advance.
