Liberty Bay Was A Zoo!

Fred - I've been trying to "get out of Dodge", er, Poulsbo, for the past several days but due to reasons beyond our control we were here for the 3rd (when Poulsbo celebrates the 4th of July - hey! No Norwegian jokes please!). The bay was totally jambed full with visiting boats and with what looked like no swinging room. I don't know how they did it - it was absolutely wall-to-wall boats. I wanted to take some pictures but I couldn't find a good spot to get one and with just a partial shot there was no way a picture would do it justice.Not only that, but Liberty Bay is nortorious as a place to drag anchor and many of these boats, I'm sure, had undersized ground tackle. I went to our marina today and asked a few people if there were any problems but nobody knew of any. Sounds like dumb luck.Read my lips: Tomorrow morning we get out of Dodge!!! How's that for optimism?Sorry for being "off topic" but "blame" Fred - he asked the question!!

That was just the idea I was looking for instead of the triple butt connectors. I did not like the triples the first time I saw them but inexperience and lack of finding any advice in books etc. I used them sparingly. I will be changing them out right away.Good WindsDaves/v DAMWEGAS

Victoria, Barkley Sound, Tofino,

Fred - we're headed up the west coast of Vancouver Island but maybe via Bellingham and/or Blaine first. The original schedule called for us to be in Sooke today (great restaurant) but obviously that date is blown.Should be an interesting trip if we can cast off before 8 AM, ride the tide north and hopefully catch a bit of wind. The Straits will have westerlies with small craft warnings so we'll probably get pounded as we approach Port Townsend, and then rain is in the forcast for the next several days too. This is my payback for being behind schedule!Looking for somewhere to go? Give me two or three days and I'll meet you in Sooke!  -= John =-
