On the Port side of the companion way on our 260 there is a raised vertical section for the fitting of a compass. Could everyone that has fitted one in this postion (cut the hole and wired it up)please let me know the brand and model of compass; good or bad?? I am finding it difficult here in Australia to find the one that will fit. Greg at Hunter advised a Danforth is fitted by the factory yet looking at their (Danforth) web site I can't find a model that will fit. Mark, I have a 95 H26 that I mounted my compass
in the same area. I know that your boat is different but both compass areas are behind the head wall and I doubt that the depth of the wall is much different. If you could post a picture of where you need to mount the compass then maybe I could help with type and size. WE're buying a much bigger boat this summer and plan to be in your country in 4 years. The port side of the companionway is near verticle. Near the top and centre of it the Glass is moulded to form a round section that protudes to the rear with the face being true verticle and about 4-5 inches across. This would be the intended place to mount a compass for on the other side(inside the head) it also protudes. The wire diagram indicates wiring to this point, again for the compass? So I need to purchase a compass that can be mounted verticaly within the bulkhead. I would like to extend a personal invitation to yourself and anyone else for that matter to visit us on the South coast of Western Australia. We are copping some very rough weather at the moment. Swells to 10 Metres and 40-60 knot winds so no sailing this week even in our many protected harbours. If you sail here make sure you are heading West in our summer and East during our Winter. Fly a balloon and it will drag you here quick smart. Yes we would dearly like to meet some of you folk who we have been communicating with over the years. Regards Mark

Our H260 came with an Aqua Meter Saturn bulkhead mount compass mounted in that location by the dealer. We specified which one we wanted. Boat is about 1000 miles from here but I see a similar model in West Marine. I think you can look it up on line. (it is made by Rule) We were also able to get a plastic cover for it. Look at WM model #383010/ Rule model #A140.
