Compass Location

I need to find the perfect place to put my compass (no jokes, please!). I was thinking about putting it on the hull near the companionway but we sit there using the hull as a back support. Does anybody have any suggestions as to another location on a 1980 22'?

starboard of the companionway

That's where I have it, just to starboard of the companionway.

Me too. I think the idea is to keep it away from all other electrical equipment while maintaining maximum visibility. It makes sense in my case since the electrical panel, radio, and even the aux. motor are on the port side. CVP

20 years ago or so

I had the perfect compass and place to put the compass. It was a removeable compass. The plate that held the compass was screwed to the center of the sliding hatch cover and no one ever sits there. Whenever we went out, I got the compass and put it on the plate and when we came in, I'd remove the compass and put it back into the cabin. At that time it was cheap, like $20.00. Now days, they seem to be closer to $65.00. Have a good day!!! Tom
