Compass Light

The small plastic bracket that holds the light for my Ritchie binnical compass has deteriorated and broken. Old boat, still much loved, 1981 27 ft. Hunter. The compass is original with the boat, has about a 3" diameter dome and a 5 1/4" diameter mounting flange with 3 mounting screws. The black plastic (maybe its lucite) bracket for the light is about the size of my thumb (I have small thumbs) and mounts to the compass with two very small phillip head set screws (they're a challenge to get in & out). I don't see anything on the Ritchie website that would help me find a new part (probably don't make this model anymore). I'd appreciate it if anyone out there could lead me to a source. Thank you....think summer...and good sailing. Tom

You sure it was Ritchie?

I replaced my compass last year (1985 H34) and it was not Ritchie and was original. Forget the mfg. but I do remember it was from England. You'll probably have to buy new. Look at the Ritchie Helmsman - a good compass for the price. E-bay always has many used items in the compass category. Just type Ritchie in their search and you will find tons.

parts for Ritchie Compass

I repaired my Ritchie Compass with parts from "Baker Lyman and company", in New Orleans. Their phone numbers are 504.831.3685 or 800.535.6956. They have moved into a new building since being flooded out by Katrina. They can help with charts and compass questions.
