Does anyone know where I locate the onboard compass for my Raymarine ST4000+ autopilot on my 2006 Beneteau 343?

Are you installing one or looking for the unit that's already there?

Go buy an $10 compass at any sporting goods store. You will use it to test various locations in the cabin. As I recall, it should ideally be at waterline and close to the pivot point of the boat. That is ideal, but NOT if there is any magnetic interference nearby.

Engines, sinks, pots/pans, keels and large bolts should be avoided.

Stand up in the middle of the cabin and note the compass heading (i.e. no interference). Now try to find a spot in your cabin that doesn't cause the compass to deviate. As you move it around the cabin, any sort of metal will cause the compass to move. Try to find a neutral spot, and temporarily mount it there, then test the autopilot.

Good luck.

Mine is also in the aft cabin hanging locker, which on the 331 is starboard.

Mine is all the way back behind the access panel in the deep port locker on my 331, they also stuck the little warming sticker on the aft wall of the locker indicating its in the area. Maybe look for the bright yellow sticker.?

Also you can try to open the ceiling access under the pedestal to maybe see where the wires go?
