Compass Cover Replacement

I am looking for a compass cover for the one pictured. I believe it is standard for a 1979 23' O'day. Does anyone know where I can procure one? And please, something besides "Ask Rudy" bc I already did and he has no answer...

The best Ad-Hoc repair I have seen to date is a butter or cool-whip dish. Find one to fit the diameter of the compass tightly.

Seems to be a Danforth Saturn compass. Found info here: http://www.vikingcompass.com/149.html I'd contact them and see what they say.

Looks like you have Velcro stuck around it. I bet Craig T has some scraps of Sunbrella hanging around. I'm sure he could sew up something with some Velcro to stick on there.

You could buy a thin sheet of PVC and heat it with a heat gun into the shape of the compass. Interestingly, a cheap "No Parking" sign from Lowes will work! Remove the compass, lay it flat on a table, lay the PVC sheet over it and heat it with the gun. It will slowly mold down. Or you could build a vacuum forming box and make them for us all!

You could also heat the sheet in an oven and lay it over the compass.

Ok, yeah, I like Andrew's solution better than some Sunbrella. It definitely sounds more fun.

Those no parking signs might be ABS plastic. They make some kayaks, for example Delta kayaks, by heat forming ABS sheets over a heated mold like Andrew describes.
