Compass calibration

Does anyone know what material the wing keel is made out of? I believe it is steel, but is it stainless steel? What grade? Is it magnetic, does it effect compass calibration?

Does anything on the boat effect compass calibration?

Here is a decent article on swinging a compass. Everything that has an effect on local magnetic fields can effect your compass. All you need to do is account for those things. The article notes even your anchor should be secured in its usual spot when swinging your compass. It can be fun to go through this each year. Kind of like a pirate treasure hunt without the actual treasure to find. Have fun.
