Dan, Without getting into any product bashing, can you give me a rundown on the similarities or differences of the two products, longevity, ease of use etc... especialy in the hot florida exposure environment. I have a bottle of New Glass that I picked up at a boat show but I haven't used yet. I've read Practical Sailors evaluation which rates both highly but I want to make sure I do this once. My topsides have been painted before, the paint is still slightly glossy but chalking badly. It has never been sealed to my knowledge. The deck is original and the gel coat is dull but not chalking too bad. The boat is 20 years old and I would like to have her looking as good as I can without staring an expensive paint job in the face. Can one product be used over another? Any coments would be appreciated! Tom Hadoulias S/V Lite Chop

New Glass (Tom) "A MUST read for everyone"!

Tom: I have used both products, and of course prefer Poli Glow (but then again, I am a bit biased). I believe that we offer more for your money relative to quantity. The Poli Glow Kit also is supplied with Poli Prep which not only prepares the surface for the Poli Glow application but also is used for the TOTAL removal of the Poli Glow, in the event of the need to do so (change boat numbers, appliques etc.) Honestly, I feel that this is an opportunity for folks that have used other similar products to voice their objective opinions in reguard to your post. I am not "copping out", but just trying to be fair to everyone involved. So, Hey everybody, let's have your inputs as well and help Tom out. P.S. Don't use either product over painted surfaces, they are designed for gelcoat, not paint Dan

Over Awlgrip?

Since neither product is recommended for paint, what do you suggest for Awlgrip LPU paint? The manufacturer says to never use anything but soap and water, which is the advice I have followed.Lots of the professional captains wax, nonetheless. Awlgrip also predict a life of five to ten years in the tropical sun, which is how long it has been and where I live. After that, I think they recommend a one time treatment of something like Finesse from 3M, but I really am not sure. The paint is still in good condition, but is loosing some of its shine. Water no longer even thinks about beading up. What would you do?

Awlgrip (Tim)

Tim: I would follow the Mfgr. directions. Maybe call their tech. services dept. and see if things have changed in the past 10 years. Remember, 50% of the products on the market today weren't there 10 years ago! Dan
