Does anyone have thoughts or the relative merits of 3 of Garmin's GPS's: models 72, 76, and eTrex Mariner (latter offered by WestMarine)? Jim Dort jdort@san.rr.com

76S has lots of memory and...

A built-in compass. It is especially well suited for someone who uses their GPS on land and at sea. The list price is about $450, but I got mine new for considerably less on ebay. ~ Happy sails to you ~ _/) ~

How are you going to use it?

Jim: How are you going to use the GPS. If you are going to hook it to a laptop, you don't need much of a unit. It just needs to be able to hook to a USB or Serial port. You may also want to consider a chart plotter too... You may want to decide what the ultimate use is before you start looking.

Jim, all these units are very close in price and features. The the 76 having a bigger screen and costiing the most, better pixel count and one or two more features. My best sugestioon is to try Garmins web site, they have all the features listed there.
