Is there a source for pre cut companionway teak for the O'Day 222. The pieces I speak of are not the pieces that lay horizontally along the deck but are slotted and mount vertically? What are these called?

They call them Pen Boards, Drop Boards, or companionway hatch boards. You can take your pick. Rudy has them and he also has them made of dark Acrylic, which are a little more pricey. If you opt for the Teak plywood boards though, you're going to need to seal the end grain so that they do not warp.Is there a source for pre cut companionway teak for the O'Day 222. I made my own replacements. No big deal if you have a table saw. Bought teak from a local woodworkers store.
Did you use solid Teak or the plywood? I don't care much for the plywood. My friend Wayne made some pen boards out of Star-Board. He has both boards hinged so that they can fold when he removes them. I'm thinking of making my own pen boards.

Solid teak. The plywood wouldn't work for runners. He's not talking about the hatch boards. He said vertical with slots. I also made hand rails and companionway hatch slides or runners.
Oh yeah. I did use teak ply for the hatch boards and it worked okay although they are starting to delaminate. Best to have old ones to use as template. Top and bottom edges are cut at angles.
That's what I don't like about the plywood. It will delamanate of even warp. I sealed the end grain on mine but I still don't like them. Three years ago, I added 1"X3" Mahogany boards on each side of the inside companionway hatch and I have them so that they overlap the opening a little. They will be used to reinforce solid Mahogany pen boards.
