Companionway sliding hatch

Lots of damage to my companionway sliding hatch (is this the correct term for the sliding roof door into the cabin) causing water to get in and a lack of security. Anyone know if there is a place where I can buy a new one?? 1974 C-22.

Thanks everyone

Maybe a boat wrecking yard would have used ones, but unfortunately the C22 hatch is known to crack along the edges due to age, so you end up with the same problem.

Best solution is to rebuild it, and solve the flaws at the same time.

I rebuilt mine by taking it apart, removing and replacing any rotted wood core, and re-laminating the skin back together.

Search the forum here. Lots of threads discuss the problem and how to repair it.

Edit: Here is my thread about it. (There are many others)

Sliding hatch is actually the correct term.

They pop up on ebay from time to time, but I agree you might as well take a crack at fixing yours. You only seem to find these things when you're not looking for them.

Spray Sailkote on your hatch and in the track. No more screeeetch! lasts for at least a month longer if you dont use everyday.
Or fix the hatch. On the C22 at least.
Havent had a screetch since i repaired the hatch on ours.
