Cheap Screen
Neil, About three years ago, Sail Magazine showed a screen made with nylon screen cloth, 5/16 or 3/8 dia dowel rod and plastic tubing to fit the dowel rod. Four sections of 8 in. long tubing hold the dowel rods together to make the frame to fit the companion way. The top rod and tubing for the end connectors are sewed into the top pocket. The side pockets are sewed and the side rods and bottom tubing can be inserted when needed. The bottom dimension is a bit long to allow it to be folded under the bottom dowel. This screen has worked great for me. It's felxable, has adjustable dimensions, it's light and can be dissabled into a small roll that won't rattle when stored anywhere.
