I have a 79 Oday 22 that needs the companionway hatch replaced, as well as the old tracks that the wood sat in. Does anyone know where I might find plexiglass or plastic replacement for these two parts? I've seen plenty of older boats with this upgrade, just wanted to know if I had to make these myself or if they were for sale out there. Thanks.

Star Board
The stuff you are looking for is Star Board. You can buy sheets of it from any of the big marine supply places, including West Marine and Defender. I think there are other brands too, but that's the one I know. I also have heard that restaurant supply places sell a very similar material for use as cutting boards at about half the price. Star Board does seem very similar to the plastic cutting board I have at home, but I wonder how UV resistant it is. I have never heard of anybody offering pre-made replacement hatchboards of the stuff.

Starboard Worked For My Boat
The previous owner of my O'Day 25 made a new hatch board from Starboard. It is very durable and secure. I added a Beckson opening port to it so that I could get good light and ventilation into the cabin. If you are looking for a clear, or smoked clear, hatch board you need to find someone who can make you one out of Lexan.

Finding Oday Parts
I found a great place in MA that offers the teak tracks and what not for different odays. http://www.drmarine.com is their website, if they don't have it, they seem to be pretty knowledgable about where you can get one. Hope that helps! Jonathan

Most window supply stores should have a supply of plexiglass on hand. If you have the old one, they can cut to fit. Plex does craze and scratch after a while, and lexan, although more expensive is your better choice.
