Companionway door designs

OK I just purchased my first cabin sailer, a 1980 O'day 25 w/CB.The companionway boards are in rough shape and I want to replace them with something better. I've seen other boats that have made a custom door with screen and a frame(it is necessary to have screens in MN). Has anybody done any interesting designs on the companionway door?Does anybody have a copy of the manual? It would be great if we could pool our resources and provide online copies of the manuals.Thanks,sPk

Along that line

I just made a short board about 8" high out of mahogany. Then made a place for the binocs, dig camera and drinks. Great as you can step over it and it keeps those items handy in a small cockpit.As for making new hatch boards.........a friend was telling me some boat maker has boards with screens and then a slide in of plexiglass to close it off. Neat idea I think I will try next winter.Later
