After a couple of hard rains and too much rain coming in through the seams around the companionway, we've had a cover made for the companionway. Fits like a glove and will work while towing. The snaps were fitted to match the camper poptop. Had it made at Potomac Sailmakers here in Virginia. If anyone wants to know the cost, email me. Pictures are up on the photo forum. Me Three

I had a local cover shop make me one last fall. They stitched in sand at the bottom of the companion way for weight. This eliminated the need for additional snaps. It works great. I will never have to refinish the wood again(I hope) PS If I was to do it againI would have had mine made to snap around the mast. This would have eliminated another potential leak.

Don't think that water comes in at the base.

Doug: I do not think that water comes in around the base of the mast. I think that it comes in from the top and finds its way down the halyards and wiring. ANYONE that has a chance to step their mast should be sure to seal the entire area under the mast step as well as the wires to be sure. If you do this once correctly, it "probably" won't be a problem again. Anyone purchasing a new boat should be sure to do this or have it done before they step your mast too. I have already been there on this issue and I wish that Hunter would make this part of the pre-delivery dealers check list so others would not have this problem.

Marbles For Weight

Made a companionway cover once & used marbles for weight. Worked great, did not absorb moisture & did not affect the compass.

Towable Cover ?

I had a companion way cover made for ours also, and it uses the camper top snaps. What makes a cover towable? I'm afraid at highway speeds air will get under it and peel it right off. I even take the covers off the stern rail seats while towing. "Festivity" H26 1996

Rail Seat Covers

I had my covers made at the same time the companion way cover was made. They really have kept the teak from greying at all. Two years without oiling so far. We spent about sixty bucks a piece at the local canvas shop for the rail seats. Four snaps on the bottom of each seat hold them in place. "Festivity" H26 1996
