Our new Hunter Vision 32 is at the end of a LONG dock at a county marina, and there never seems to be a dock cart around when I need one. W e have talked about buying the folding Al job that West & others sell for around $220. BUT Amazon sells what looks like the same cart without blue wheels for $179. Anyone have any experience with either versions of this cart?

Dock cart

I have the smaller folding aluminum dolley (with blue wheels) that West Marine sells for about $139. If I am reading your post correctly, they appear to be made by the same company. I actually use it around the office for moving boxes and files. It has held up very well for about three years now. We routinely lift weights of 150lbs. with it. The materials and construction seem to work well. Hope this helps.

Not quite Robert, this is what I mean....

I'm talking about the actual folding, boxlike cart with 20" wheels (see link below). It carries 300+ pounds, folds flat and weighs like 33 pounds. It's made by Tipke Mfg. (I know the dolly you have-it's pretty cool too)

One Suggestion:

I had two folding carts that I use on occasion, but have found that a $40 luggage cart with the larger wheels is a better investment. I just got some adjustable WM bungees for lashing everything and we use canvas bags for most stuff. You can use a folding milk-carton type box for loose stuff. The folding carts are a bit of a pain storage-wise. BTW, the forestay tension shouldn't be very tight since, as you noted, the main tensions it under sail. RD

folding two wheeler with big wheels

this will haul nearly anything and has big wheels so you can take it to town if need be. ------------------------ Sorry I didn't read the earlier post regarding same thing. but... I would add - get this and get two or three folding plastic "milk crates" that stack and also fold flat. You will end up with a better and more versatile set up than the cart you are curious about.

Yeah, I like the folding hand truck idea too..

But I confess a certain fondness for the big folding box. Does anybody have one? I've also thought about the folding milk crate on a platform dock cart. If it fits in my dock box, it might be the one.... Rick D.-Thanks & check out my comments today with the Vision. We sailed under jib alone for a while this afternoon. I can't wait to try it with the jib as well.

Folding milk crate with wheels/telescoping handle

I picked up a nice folding milk crate with wheels (small, though - not big) that has a handle that telescopes out of the end. A few bungees and it's perfect for really big loads down to the end of the dock where I'm berthed. About $30.00 or so. And it folds down to about 2.5 inches thick for easy stowage. I think I might have gotten it at an office supply store, but I see them around a lot. If interested, I will try to plumb the depths of my memory for a source.

I know what your are talking about & I am close to

buying it. West Marine sells one with bigger wheels and says it will carry 180 pounds.... We went down to the boat for dinner last night and had an ice chest, a shopping bag of stuff, jackets, some newly bought stuff for the boat, Etc. Fortunately, a dock cart had appeared and we made use of it. My wife still carried the shopping bag, I carried the bags o' stuff and the kids took the dock cart with the ice chest the jackets. maybe a rolling, collapsable ice chest would work better if a dock cart will be available...
