Combi Rebuild;Hot Stern Gland

I've just finished(?)a Combi re-build.

Everything seemed to have went well, except that the stern gland get very hot.

My experience with this boat is limited to refurbishing it, so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Does the stern gland run hot. Yes it's been greased.

Yes - surprisingly hot! Well it did on mine anyway - everything had been renewed and I guess it was a bit tight. I wish I had taken Steve's advice and binned it because I had a leaky rear combi seal soon after the refurb (the reason I did the refurb!). It ended up being a complete waste of time and effort .
