Hello fellow Vega sailors,
Over this weekend I snagged a docking line on my prop. The
engine was in forward when it snagged and stopped the engine.
I was able to remove the line. It was a cold (water at 49f) but
relatively quick job and the prop does not seem to be damaged.
The engine starts easily and there does not seem to any
excessive vibration nor more than the usual loss from the
stuffing box. Later that same day I left the dock in reverse and
there was no problem. When I shifted to forward the prop would
not feather into that position. So I am able to start in neutral and
reverse. When I engage forward propulsion the propellor
remains in the neutral position no mater how fast the the engine
turns. I was hoping that someone has experience with this
problem and could suggest the best or most likely solution.
My very best to all of you.
