I'm going down to look at a ComPac 27 this weekend, not knowing much about this particular boat at all. I've seen it from a distance, and like every sailboat I see lately, it's a project. I'll start by saying that I don't need this boat at all, I have more boats now than I know what to do with, but I'm thinking flip, salvage, etc, I just don't know until I look it over close. The lady that owns it can tell me very little about it, in fact, that's ALL I know about it at this point. So, anybody have any thoughts on this particular vessel? What to "look out" for? Absolutely don't do it if it comes with cash hidden in it? Any comments at all, good or bad will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Chris..

I agree with Claude. We have a few O'Days in our marina and more near-by. All seem to be in good condition as a result of good care.

I've been aboard OD27's at Annapolis and other shows and was impressed with the good production quality they seem to have.

Get it surveyed and then decide.

My dad had five boats in the 25-30' range over the years (catalina, o'day and com-pac) and he considers the com-pac to have been the best built of them all.

So far, all this pre info sounds good. I know my way around a boat good enough to see if it's anything I want to fool with. I've even considered a decomm, but tomorrow will tell the tale. I think I was just curious if anybody knew any "fatal flaws" that I should look for. Like, the keel falling off, taking the mast through the hull with it, hanging the toilet with the ol' lady on it as it passes through.
A good head is hard to replace..
