They appeal to some, but were not built to top standards, especially the smaller ones. 1960's boats will be quite tired. A Diesel engine in one may be worth more than the rest of the boat.
I have a 76 Columbia 8.7. Very solid boat, lots of updates done over the years ( port lights were a weak spot)
Fairly heavy with ful keel. Likes wind over. 10 knots , been out at 20- 25 with just a tiny bit of sail and doing 5 knots. Check her out at fullsail dot done-that dot com
Columbia Contender, 24 foot boat on an 18 foot waterline. Terrible in a seaway, hobby horse. Lots of rot in the deck core. Fast, if you could keep her on her feet. Many trophies, PHRF.
had a Columbia Challenger 24 years and years ago, from young to when my daughter was a baby. Vintage mid 60's. Very simple boat, minimal anything but worked a charm for day sailing and weekend camping on the Bay. Came out of the same molds as the Cal 25. Fast little boat.
