I'm considering the purchase of a Columbia 31. Would such a boat be suitable for a trip from North America to Europe and back? Several friends familiar with the C-31 have said it could be appropriately outfitted for such a trip. Before I continue down this path, I'd like a further gut check. Is this an obviously foolish or bad idea? Are my friends trying to kill me? Does anyone have experience or knowledge of the boat's abilities in such conditions?
