columbia 22 keel and spinnaker

I just bought a columbia 22. I was thinking of getting a spinnaker. Does anybody know the size that's good for this boat and what size spinnaker pole? I also need to take care of a rusty keel when I pull it out in a month. Anyone have suggestions on how to take care of rust on an old keel?

Keel And Spinnaker

Your Spinnaker size is based on the boat's I and J dimensions. The standard Spinnaker pole length for that vintage boat is equal to the J measurement. Sailmaker's use a standard formula to design the spinnaker to the I and J.For the Keel, Sandblasting would be the place to start, then osphoric acid(OSPHO Brand) to etch the iron, then epoxy fairing compound, followed by epoxy barrier coat, and lastly bottom paint.
