Hello everyone, I am new to this site. My wife and I both went through the Colgate Offshore Sailing School program back in 2021 and there was an optional online course offered through BoatUS at the time that paired with the Colgate Fast Track to Sailing book. After the school's transition last year, I can't find that course. I have called the school and BoatUS and neither can help me. Does anyone here know what happened to it, where it might be now, or have a helpful suggestion on who to contact to try to find it? It was a marvelous aid for people who have been away from sailing for a short time and need a quick and easy refresher. Thank you

I think the school went bankrupt a while back. My impression is that something of the school was acquired by a new owner. It might just be the school name - I don't know. But, I think they are focused on partnering with NauticEd - likely for delivery of online courses. I have no idea what that relationship looks like, but the school that was previously owned by the Colgates is still at Offshore Sailing School & Powerboat School, so they should be able to answer your question about the companion course.

I would say, I cannot recommend NauticEd. Maybe they have improved, but I evaluated their course offerings about 10 years ago and began advising people specifically against them.

The Colgates ran an excellent program and were the fore runners of all the other sailing schools out there now. A few years ago their bases in Florida were destroyed by a hurricane and they were unable (or perhaps unwilling) to rebuild, so they sold off what assets they could. I don't blame them, when the hurricane struck they were well into their 70s.

Apparently NauticEd purchased the business and whatever assets were left. NauticEd has its own style of videos and instructions and may have felt the online refresher course was not inline with their business model. Or, the Colgates may not have sold the rights to the online program. Either way, the program appears to be history. That's why I suggested the book.

You might take a look at school offerings by the Maryland School of Sailing, developed by Tom Tursi.

They may have something available to meet your desires.
