I'm in the process of installing a Adler/Barbour Cold Machine in my 1990 Catalina 34. The question I have is there an advantage or disadvantage in insulating the tubing from the evaporator to the condensing unit. I know the first couple feet come insulated from the factory. I'm talking about the entire length of the tubing. I've seen installations completed both ways so I trying to decide what's best. Thanks, Dave

I did mine.

Otherwise I got a big hunk of ice growing on it that would melt and drip all over. I used hot water pipe insulation from Home Depot.

Insulating tubing

The tubing should not be sweating, icing, or frosting beyond the first 3 feet of tubing. (Where the factory supplied tubing insulation ends.) If it is the condensing unit is overheating OR thee system is overcharged.
