Cockpit Water Drain

As I am new to sailing, I have a some questions which may have rather simple answers, but I don't have the answers, so here goes:Are there drains for cockpit rainwater and how do they function? Does the water manually drain out somewhere above the waterline? Do these freeze up in the winter? Greg

Cockpit Drains

Your Hunter 31 has two cockpit drains, one on either side at the stern end of hte cockpit. The hoses cross to the opposite sides and exit at the water line. When the boat is hauled any low spots in the scupper hoses that hold water will freeze up. It is easiest to put a tarp over the cockpit to keep out most snow and rain.
