Just thought I would show off my new cockpit table. The old one was too small (not wide enough). I got the idea from the owners modifications. There's two that I liked one for a 28 and one for a 42.

I did make this out of oak. If it doesn't hold up to the elements I may have to invest in teak. I like the look of wood. The compass rose I printed on adhesive backed clear paper. Not sure how long that will stand up.

If I can do it anyone can

Good job, Don. I am thinking of building a new one too.. Like most of those projects, I will think about it for a year or so.. I hope mine ends up looking as good as yours..

Don, very nice job, I am sure you will enjoy many good meals on it. The compass rose is a nice touch.

Nice Don! Love to work with wood also - wish I had a shop to play in.

Use a good stain and water sealer and it should last for a long time. Can't tell about the hardware but if you keep it rust free should last. Good job.

Nice Work, Don...

I've been considering replaciing the narrow teak table attached to the binacle with one that has fold out leaves to give it a wider surface. Yours looks like a nice place to start thinking about what it could look like!

Re: Nice Work, Don...

Really nice job Don. That is also a project for this Spring as my old table has reached the point where no TLC is going to bring it back. I am going to use the same design that I have used on my last 2 tables but would like to add the nice touch your decal provides. Where do you get those and do you apply it before or after varnishing ? Thanks for the info.

If any one comes up with a design/plan for a table that has fold up side leaves ( and maybe an end one) and folds down to hang against the pedestal ( Merriman) I would be very interested. My old small flip up table is pretty limited in size.

Hi Richard. Give me a few days and I probably will be able to provide a few pics, and dimension. I have to redo mine when I return to Montreal, and will use exactly the same design as it has served me right for more than 15 years. 4 people can dine and be confortable or with the wings folded enough room for appetizers and drinks. I had made it out of wild cherry tree but this time will use lumber more appropriate to outside marine use. Same pedestal as yours.
