Recent owner of a Pearson 26 with tiller steering. Any suggestions for a cockpit table?

cockpit table

here's what I did. Bought this small folding hardwood table at Ikea for about $25. I have since finished it with cetol light. Tiller clears the table so you can use when sailing. When not in use it folds flat and is stored in the quarter berth.

two more styles

I made two for my boat with tiller steering, one spans the cockpit (we use it the most) and one that knocks down using PVC pipe and closet flanges. Both can be stored very easily

PVC

I made one from wood for my Pearson 28 with PVC legs. I used 2 legs on the aft end and one on the fore(centered side to side). The 2 aft legs fit into the scuppers with collers that prevent them from going too far into the scuppers. The table is very wobbly at this point so I tie a short length of line from the stern rail and around the 2 aft legs and pull tight. This makes it very stable. I can lean on the foreward corner. the legs attach to the table with PVC pipe end caps that are screwed into the botom of the table. The legs are a friction fit and can be removed for storage. Paint the legs a nice color and you are done. Tim R.
