Cockpit sole bolts

Hi All,

Can anyone give me a correct technical description of the bolts holding down the cockpit sole? I am having to order them over the internet as no one in my area (Warrington, UK) seems to stock them. I think it is 40mm X 6mm UNC mushroom head stainless. Does that sound right. Is the thread Whitworth?

Thanks Doug, I didn't realise the threads were directly into the glass... Apparently UNC and Whitworth threads are interchangeable. The difference, I am told is purely in the profile of the edge of the thread. Helicoils may be the answer then!

I can supply a special insert set of bolts and stainless 316 inserts for the Vega Cockpit Sole. Contact me off group at steve@... but Im off sailing for the weekend!! Back sunday night!

Thanks Steve,

It's not reached that stage yet. If I can get the right specification, apparently Thomas Smith's in Wigan can get the bolts in stainless.
