Does anyone the difference in size between the cockpit of Mariner 2+2 and an O'Day 22? From pictures I have seen it looks as though the Mariner may accomodate more people in the cockpit, but I have no first hand experience with either boat. I am more interested in having more people aboard than I am in sleeping accomodations Thanks, Dan

In that case you should look

at a Marshall Catboat.

Mariner vs O'Day 22

Dan, I have owned both. The Mariner 2+2 was my first real sail boat and I learned my sailing skills on it. I had it for approx. 4 years and was easy to trailer and set up and had a very large cockpit and space below to sleep 2 and a porty pottie. We then got the urge to get something larger but still be able to trailer it and easy setup. The O'Day 22 fit the bill completly, it was easy to trailer and set up, much more stable, had larger cabin space, but the cockpit was smaller which wasn't a problem for my wife and I. It was still comfortable for 4 adults when we had guests. They were both swing keels which allowed us to explore shallow areas and go where alot of boats couldn't go. So, depending on your tow vehicle which may dictate your decision, I would choose the O'Day 22 for the fact that you will no doubt get the 2 or 3 foot itch very quickly and want to move up in size. We caught the bug again after the 22 and purchased a Catalina 27. Good luch with your decision and feel free to me contact with any questions. Regards, Richard
