currently doing some upgrades on my 78 hunter have a couple questions. My winches are factory 2 spd 40s that im replacing with self tailing harken b32s and im adding harken self tailing single speed 16s as secondaries. My winch handle currently hits on my lowerlifeline when i race i currently drop the lower lifeline so i can get a full turn on the winch when cruising I rachet with half turns. Is there a way to fix this either the winch needs to be higher or the liifeline needs to be lower just wondered if anybody had delt with this.Secondly im swapping out the factory traveller for a harken ball bearing system and adding a dodger. Can I have a dodger that gives decent coverage and keep my traveller inthe cockpit or will it have to go to the couch roof I prefer it in the cockpit for a variety of reasons and would like it to remain there, any thoughts appreciated.pictures would be nice thanks in advance.

What is "decent coverage" for a dodger? My traveler is on the bridgedeck and I have a dodger. It keeps rain out of the companionway, the only time I use it. Is that decent? But my mainsheet is vertical. If it sloped forward then the dodger would be too short I suppose.

The dodger on my 37C just touches the mainsheet blocks (original bridgedeck mounted traveler) when the lower blocks are fully out. Bit of a pain when the boom is swinging at the dock as there is some chafing. My earlier 33 the dodger was mounted so it too came back almost to the mainsheet. Both give me good protection and usually I can leave the companionway open during rains. Having the dodger further aft just means you bang your head more often going up and down and it gets in the way of sail controls. Unlike Ed, I keep my dodger up most of the time. Both dodgers were retrofits scrounged from other boats.
