Cockpit locker latches

Six?? My boat has two on each of the side hatches but the lazarette has only one, and it is of a different type. I'm sure its the original setup and our boats are not that far apart in the production run.

Steve, you have more experience than I. Were there more than one type of latch fitted originally, or was the lazarette fitted with two latches on some boats? Just curious really but, you know, some of us are very particular about these things.

So, did anyone come up with any latches?

I went to take a look at the site Paul mentioned (www.seasea.nu) but,
being a typical American (Mono-lingual) I couldn't make much out of
it. I found some latches at West Marine that look like they will work
although they are chrome and do not match the two originals I still
have. At US$54.95 each however, I think its worth looking around
some more. I could also use some of the large three-piece cleats Paul
mentioned.

Chuck,
The short ones are available here in Germany for about 20 Euro's apiece. I have never seen any of the long ones used in the rear lazarette in any catalog. If you are interested let me know. In the meantime I will look around in some of the smaller chandleries and see what I can find.

The short ones are the ones I need Frank. That would be about US$25.75 each, right? I need them. I only have one latch per side now so I have to do something and would prefer to get the OEM latches if possible.

If you come across any of the large cleats I need three of those too. I haven't been able to locate any of that type either (Except for in the catalog Paul Halvachs mentioned but I can't figure out how to order from them)

Hi Chuck

I found the hasps. Check it out

20equipment%20%20-%20Deck%20fittings%20&catid=6&LangID=1

Whooa a little long!

Do a search on 10626 and 35647 in the catalogue of

Home page | Plastimo, happy boating to you under products

There are two versions. The 35647 is the one you need It is
improperly catalogued but it is available with the right angle catch
version. I do not know who distributes Plastimo it in the USA but I
do know who distributes them in CanadaAlan

Hi Alan, nice site but my French is very limited! Found it in English
though. Just thought I'd mention that I have had the chance to measure the
Plastimo 2 burner stove with OVEN and it could be adapted to a Vega. The one
other thing I would really like on Lyric is an oven. You won't bake a turkey
but a chicken would be possible in it. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

Yes Alan and Walt, my local West Marine has these in stock. The problem is (1) They don't quite match the originals in that they are chrome plated and a slightly different, albeit stonger looking, configuration, and (2) the price is $54.95 each or $220 for four matching latches. If push comes to shove, I will break down and buy two and live with mix and match latches for a while. I could try special ordering the hook portion only but the minimum shipping charge is $17 dollars (I'm starting to sound cheap aren't I)
Well, Laura says no mix and match and she doesn't want me to replace the bronze latches with chrome either but it begins to look like this is going to be my solution unless someone can help me come up with two original replacements.

Chuck,

I hope you are not in a terrible hurry, I sent you a page out of one my German catalogs, showing the hasps, they are definitely not chrome, unless you want them in chrome. You should get it in about a week. The Plastimo ones are definitely chrome as are the Swedish ones (thanks to Martin Westin for his help in the translation). I am in Berlin at the moment, and most of my catalogs are back home on the island, so I can't check them out. However I know I have seen them in other catalogs. The chrome ones are definitely a lot cheaper, the Swedish ones running about $13.87 each. As for the cleats (teak 3 piece), they were $49.52 from Sweden. I've seen them in Denmark, and I am sure they can be had cheaper. If you can wait till I return, I will get back to you on the prices.

Hi Frank,

Paul and I are also interested in getting the cockpit locker latches, if
they are like the original equipment. We've been looking for them for a long
time! No hurry--we have a lot of snow here in Maine. Launch date is usually
sometime in June.

OK guys, I am finally back home and have been hitting the catalogues. It's been snowing without let up all day and night. So it was a good time for surfing the net. I need a little info on the size of the cockpit latches and deck cleats. Cin Cin is not available for inspection, otherwise I would go down and take the measurements myself. First of all the deck cleats come in two sizes. 250 and 350 mm long, that is about 9 7/8 inches, and 13 3/4 inches long, and if I am not mistaken they are chrome with teak inserts. If the teak is all you need, it is available separately at a considerable savings. As for the latches (a two piece) assembly available either in chrome (cheaper) or brass. They also come in different lengths, ranging from 75 to 110mm, that is about 3 inches to 4 1/4 inches, measured lengthwise as if they were assembled in the closed position in the cockpit. These items are available for viewing at www.toplicht.de (not necessarily the best prices, but the best
drawings. simply log on to toplicht and in the middle of the page it says "Direkt zum online shop" click on that. On the next page on the right side is a small window "suche" (search) type in spannverschluss for the hasps/latches, and belegklampe for the cleats. Give the site a minute to load the drawings. Incidently "mehr" means "more"
