Cockpit line storage

Coes anyone have suggestions for organizing the lines on a Catalina 30. All of the halyards the Main sheet, ttopping livt and boombang are all led aft to the cockpit. The traveler lines are also there This leads to a real "mares nest" of lines either in the cockpit itself or on the cabin top. At first the bunge straps advertised by West Marine looked like a good idea but I expect that they would have to be mounted on the diamond non Skid, if I was to mount them on the cabin top. I don't particularly want to mount anything on the bulkhead by the main hatchwat as that looks like such a comfortable place to rest or nap. I would appreciate any suggestions.

options

I've used the bungees with success, and for my current boat bought the storage bags (although I admit I haven't yet gotten around to the drilling required to install them to the bulkhead). Outside of the "nest," stashing them in the coming locker, we don't have many choices. To your point about resting against the bulkhead, rope is at least a little softer than fiberglass. :)

what I do

Hey John, my 85C30 has a dodger, I simply coil up each line and lay on top of cabin all lined up against the dodger and side by side from there. I like to lean on the front of the cockpit too, against a cushion instead of lines. I find bungies and bags are just a hassle, you still have to coil or cram them in. I give the "job" to someone and it lets them feel they are participating. There is nothing as beautiful as a pile of lines!! Good luck Dean

Look at the newer Catalinas

The line bags are mounted on the bulkhead and make a nice backrest when not in use. Then look in the Chandlery on this site, they carry them and they work great.
