On My 2008 H41 DS, I have a rainwater leak that is allowing water from the cockpit into the aft cabin damaging the rear bulkhead. Can the section of the floor just aft of the binnacle be removed without damaging it. It has a few screws in it but Im guessing it may also be glued down. The other option would be to take down the headliner which does not look like much fun.

From what I can see from the H41 DS layout I have a guess...

The pedestal hand grip by the helm.

On mine, the bolts are accessible on the overhead in the Aft cabin. You can inspect by dropping a small access panel.

________
I assume the damaged teak bulkhead is on the port side.
_______
Another SWAG...
Make sure you lazarette's drainage grooves are fee and clear to drain rain/sea spray to the cockpit.

Bart,

Yes you can remove that piece behind the wheel. Remove those screws you see and the ones in the transom. The piece slides out the rear of the cockpit. Before you get it all the way out you will swear you are going to drop it. That is where the linkage from the steering goes back to the rudder post and wires come to that are routed up to the instruments at the helm. If you have an autopilot, which you probably do, the boot may be cracked and allowing water to run in and down into the aft cabin. Just a guess.

Same problem on my H380. Yes the center flooring of the cockpit is removed by undoing just 4 screws, no glue. I tied a rope thru the emergency tiller hole, so it would not slide off the stern.

However my leak turned out to be the cockpit shower and not rain water. Water ran down from the fittings into the aft stateroom and yes damaged the bulkhead a bit... placed a plastic tray in the inspection opening to catch water once problem was discovered.

I would try turning off your water pressure and seeing if the leaking stops (no water in tray). And you must relieve all pressure even after turning the water pressure off by leaving a faucet open.... New cockpit showers are sold here. However the fittings can be purchased at any hardware store.

Thanks Butch, I took the floor off and found the leak. The caulking around the auto pilot wiring harness was dried up and cracked. Also the scuppers were partially plugged with accumulated dirt and bird nesting materials allowing backed up water to flow in. A good cleaning and plenty of silicone sealant should take care of the problem. I think I will add a yearly cleaning of that area to my maintenance plan.
