Cockpit Floor Support on Oday 25

O-day 25 shoal keel Valdez
In the process of moving things around and fixing things in the lazerette I noticed that it appears that something has been cut from the bottom of the cockpit floor. I am wondering if there used to be some kind of support there that was removed by a PO? Maybe those with 25's can let me know if their boat have anything there. Also the port bulkhead is plywood. Is this original or did it use to be fiberglass? Well thanks in advance Greg

My 222 has a cockpit floor support. It's behind the black hose in the picture.

What is location of cockpit area of question? Some of the O'Days were reinforced at factory in center of Cockpits in case owner wanted wheel.

The places that look cut are about 6" long on the port and starboard real close to center of it length wise.

Would it be possible to post a picture of the "stub" or what ever the evidence of a previous support looks like?

Pics of Cuts

Ok here is the pics. The first shows both of the areas cut. The second one shows the port side mostly. It also shows the plywood I asked about. It looks as though the fiberglass was cut out there and the plywood put in it's place. The third is the new location for the batteries I am working on. The propane locker used to sit there. Wires still need to be run to autohelm. But it shows another area that looks as though it might have been cut away. Now this is just my assumption but it seems the lazerette should be water tight from the cabin just for seaworthiness?

So is the first picture as seen looking down vertically towards the water line? Is this a view straight down from the seat locker opening?

If the second picture is looking at the port bulkhead, then I assume the white tank is a water tank? If that is your water tank, then that is a different layout than what I have on my 25 ft fixed keel O'day.

What is the perspective of the third shot? My batteries are located pretty much down from the seat opening.

The first is from the bottom looking up. I was by the opening the camera was on the hull facing up that is the bottom of the cockpit floor.
Yes that is the water tank in its new location. It use to be at the forward bulkhead. It is now where the batteries used to go. The batteries are now going in their new location in the third pic!!
The water pump went out, the tank was glassed in. I had to cut it out to get to it. The new on demand pump is located next to the propane locker just inside the seat hatch for the lazerette. You can see that in the third pic also.
It was a struggle for me to get in there with the batteries drag them all the way to the other side and hook them up. Now I just have to kneel down just inside the hatch.

Are you saying that a previous owner was so stupid that he/she actually installed Propane tank(s) BELOW DECKS?? Amazing that the boat never exploded! VERY LUCKY that there was never any leaks!!

Old propane installation

Yes not only the lowest possible place in the lazerette but 2 vents. One to a thru-hull that you could not get much higher. The other ran through a tube up to a vent that oday 25s have just forward of the transom just below the cockpit colming. Screwed to the back of it so a leak would of just drained back into the lazerette.

Underside of my cockpit has the same thing- looks like something was there, but isn't anymore. Floor is stiff as can be though.
